Terror: The way it is imbibed in humans
I read a novel by Frederick Forsyth titled Avenger. Some of the contents of this write up is from my memory of the novel and the passages on terrorism from the novel. I give this disclaimer to avoid any pointing fingers for plagiarism. I love Forsyth’s works for his extensive research on current affairs.

Terror is feared by the whole humanity, but some sections of us are taking part in that by planning, operating, supporting and propagating. Are they a different breed. Yes, is the loud and clear answer. Whatever be the type of it, it is bred through human minds as a panacea for all the problems and any clarifications or queries about the theory taught is forbidden. Whatever is blabbered to the students, they accept it and grow with that in their whole thought process. The self arrogated champions of their target audience, the leaders of the terrorist outfits, have not come from the so called “wretched of the earth”, but from a comfortable family life having never missed a meal in their life.
They study an ideology and try to master it and dream to become the masters of the Universe. In realising their dream they recruit people from all walks of life who suffered physically or mentally or socially, one way or the other. “Terrorism came from the minds of comfortably raised, well educated, middle class theorists with a staggering levels of narcissism and a taste developed for self indulgence.”, says a study on Terrorism. This is a fact with regards to all sorts of violent gangs the Jehadis, the Communist Red Army, the Nazis, the Ulster, the Maoists, the Dravidian separatists, the Arafats, Abu Nidals, till Al Qaeda and so on. None of their leaders have never missed a meal in their lives. In fact they lived in luxury even in the most difficult places to live in the world.
They possessed a fearsome capacity for hatred. The hatred came first and the target came later. The motive also came along with the capacity to hate. Be it secession like India on religious grounds or consolidation like the Bolshe takeover over of the Tzar’s Russia and adjacent States on the communist lines. The religious or any other terrorists have hatred to the full and the hatred required a target. They fix the target as the affordable for the poor, the strong for the weak, the brilliant for the mediocres, the enterprising to the reactionary, the energetic to the lazy.
The leaders of such hate mongering outfits have never been seen in poverty unless they show themselves up so for a purpose. For example, the communist leaders who are supposed to be part of the impoverished are well off living in posh houses with an income comparable to corporate executives, but from undisclosed source. The people who live by the principles preached are kept as display pieces and have never been elevated to leadership, but for some rare exceptions.
