My journey towards PMP
For quite some people in the IT industry the buzzword now is PMP®. I too had started my journey towards that certification some months ago. My colleague Praveen & I enrolled in an institute called Infocareer located in Mandaveli, Chennai. My learning of PMP had started much earlier, but I took the proper channel towards certification only in 2015. The classes were effective in preparing a candidate towards the exam. But it wasn’t kind of an exam cram session. The concepts were taught in a lucid manner by Mr. G.L.Sekhar, Mr.Dinesh Babu, Mr.A.Chandrasekaran and a grand old man called Mr.
But due to office, I realized that I had to complete the certification in spite of office. I registered for the exam on March 2015. Then came a diversion I could not avoid. There was a tour of quite a few holy places in the Himalayas and the traditional Kashi yatra during May 2015. I had to accompany my parents. There were some preliminary tours in South India to be completed before we could embark on the Kashi Yatra. So, April will be off in tours too. So, I decided not to schedule the exam till I return. The tour was very refreshing to the mind.
I came back on June 2015 from the Yatra. I need to write a travelogue as agreed with friends, but gotta start it after one of them completes his, as he has started it earlier. Well, mind was refreshing after the tour and I went to office with kind of clean slate to start with. But, as the old saying goes, man proposes and God disposes his proposal, I walked in to the office to the news that my Account Manager was leaving the company and I had to step into her shoes. Priorities changed in no time. I started to taking many additional responsibilities.
When the time came for a formal handover training, we had another change. There was another Account Manager with a different account who was brought in to our Account as his was a smaller account and management looked for optimally utilizing his services. At least, that was what I was told officially. So, priorities changed again. But yet, I had to stay on with the new responsibilities as this new man was new to our account. There were some gives and takes in the operations as we both had different approaches towards work.
